Acomet-DF Suspension contains the active ingredient Metronidazole and Diloxanide Furoate. Metronidazole belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics. Both Metronidazole and Diloxanide Furoate helps to kill small organisms called Amoeba and help in treatment of various conditions manifested by it. Infection with the amoeba can occur after drinking water contaminated by infected stools (faeces) or eating food prepared or washed using contaminated water. Most people with amoeba infection do not develop any symptoms, but in those who do, dysentery is the most common symptom. Combination of Metronidazole and Diloxanide Furoate ensures removal of cysts and the possibility of relapse of the infection months later.
